0-2 years of PM experience
Lead with PM-specific years (even if 0), product type, and one quantified achievement. If transitioning, state your background and why PM.
Example
Product Manager with 1 year of experience building B2B SaaS tools for SMBs. Led feature discovery and launch of an onboarding flow that improved Day-7 retention by 18%. Background in software engineering with hands-on experience in user research and A/B testing.
Each role needs: company description (1 line), your scope, and 3-5 bullets with the pattern: action verb + context + metric + timeframe. For non-PM roles, reframe bullets in PM language.
Example
Identified drop-off in onboarding through funnel analysis, redesigned the first-run experience with engineering, and improved activation rate from 32% to 48% within 2 months.
Focus on tactical PM skills: discovery, requirements, metrics, working with engineering, user research, wireframing, A/B testing. List tools you have actually used.
Example
Product Discovery, User Research, A/B Testing, SQL, Mixpanel, Figma, Jira, Agile/Scrum
Keep it brief. Institution, degree, year. Remove CGPA/GPA if graduated 3+ years ago unless it is above 3.8/4.0. Notable institutions (IIT, IIM, top MBA) should stay visible.
Example
B.Tech Computer Science, IIT Madras, 2024
2-5 years of PM experience
Total years, PM years, product type, customer base, one signature achievement with numbers, and team scope if applicable.
Example
Product Manager with 4 years of experience in B2B SaaS, building workflow automation tools for enterprise customers (Fortune 500). Drove 35% increase in enterprise adoption by launching a self-serve onboarding flow. Led a cross-functional team of 8 across engineering, design, and data.
Show progression between roles. Current role should have stronger, higher-impact bullets than earlier roles. Include company context, your scope, and roadmap-level ownership. Bullets should show GTM thinking, not just feature shipping.
Example
Owned the enterprise onboarding roadmap from discovery to GTM, partnering with sales and CS to identify the top 3 activation blockers. Launched a guided setup flow that reduced time-to-value from 14 days to 3 days, contributing to a 22% increase in first-quarter retention.
Roadmapping, go-to-market, stakeholder management, prioritization frameworks (RICE, ICE), experimentation, and data tools. Process skills (Agile, Scrum) are expected, not differentiating.
Example
Roadmapping, Go-to-Market Strategy, Stakeholder Management, RICE Prioritization, Experimentation, SQL, Amplitude, Jira, Figma
Brief. Remove academic scores entirely at this level unless from a notable institution.
Example
MBA, ISB Hyderabad, 2022 | B.E. Electronics, BITS Pilani, 2018
5+ years of PM experience
Total years, PM years, product type, scale (revenue, users, team size), and 1-2 signature achievements that show strategic impact. If people leader, mention team size.
Example
Senior Product Manager with 7 years of experience in consumer fintech, leading products serving 2M+ users. Built and led a 4-person PM team owning the payments platform. Drove $12M ARR growth by launching cross-border payments in 6 markets over 18 months.
End-to-end ownership from discovery to GTM to business outcomes. Show strategic thinking: why you chose this problem, what trade-offs you navigated, what the business result was. Earlier roles should be condensed to 2-3 bullets max.
Example
Defined the cross-border payments strategy after identifying a $40M revenue opportunity through customer research and market analysis. Aligned 3 engineering teams, legal, and compliance across 6 markets. Launched in 4 months, reaching $3M ARR in the first quarter with 85% merchant activation rate.
Strategy, vision, end-to-end product lifecycle, team leadership. Foundational PM skills are assumed at this level. Only list what differentiates you.
Example
Product Strategy, Platform Architecture, Team Leadership, P&L Ownership, International Expansion, Data-Driven Decision Making
One line. Institution and degree only. No scores, no coursework.
Example
MBA, Kellogg School of Management, 2019
Unless you have 10+ years of experience. Every word should earn its place. Recruiters spend 6-10 seconds on a first pass.
Summary, Experience, Skills, Education. Creative headers like 'My Journey' or 'Toolbox' get missed by ATS systems.
Not 'improved user experience' but 'reduced onboarding drop-off from 40% to 18% within one quarter.' Numbers make your impact real.
If you had multiple roles at the same company, show the promotion: APM (2021-2022) then PM (2022-2024). Hidden growth is wasted growth.
CGPA from 5+ years ago does not help. Keep the institution name if notable, drop the score.
Not everyone knows MQL, ARR, or OKR. Spell out on first use: 'Monthly Active Users (MAU)'. Then use the acronym.
